In the old days, when there were not a noisy technology, my family and I were spent a good time in front of the TV, drinking a coffee or tea and talk about every thing. I am the oldest brother in a big family. In my home, every one of my family member has one laptop and one cell phone. I hope laptops and cell phones uninvented because when we sitting now in home we don't talk to each other. I miss that days and I really want it to back.
You make a very good point. I, too, have noticed that more and more people are "speaking" via technology and no longer speaking to each other directly in person even if they are sitting right next to each other.
